We have been providing free supplemental food to qualified families since 2008. We are a USDA qualified agency within the Feeding America system for both Jackson and Calhoun counties. Presently, we distribute more than 45,000 pounds of food monthly. We also currently have 10 routes where food is delivered to shut-ins and those that have no way of getting to our pantries.
Applying for food is as simple as filling out one application per year that is based on USDA income levels. ID is not required.
Our Jackson county pantry is located at
1994 Hwy 71 South
Wednesdays from 10am to 12noon.
Our Calhoun county pantry is located at
12122 Hwy 20 West
Thursdays from 9am to 11am
We also have a household goods assistance program, which provides support to other non-profits as well as private individuals with items such as appliances, furniture, and other household items, all at no cost. While this program historically was centered around helping fire and domestic abuse victims create a new home, our need in this area has grown exponentially due to Hurricane Michael.
Home Medical Equipment
With the changes to the medical insurance industry within the last several years, we have seen a great increase in need for providing home use medical equipment. Many times patients are sent home and there is a delay in receiving the very item that was prescribed for them. We accept and store donated medical items so that they can be given out for such needs.
Hurricane Michael Disaster Relief and Restoration
We began handing out water and MRE's on day 3 after the storm and have been actively working to help rebuild our community ever since. We continually collaborate with our partner agencies to help rebuild the homes and lives of our distressed neighbors. We are actively seeking any resources, be it building materials or the funds to purchase such, that will contribute to that effort. We do not disburse funds directly to individuals. We work with case workers and construction managers to assess the needs and purchase materials directly, which are then passed along to the workers doing the job so that we know that the materials are used as intended. We can provide receipts and full disclosure on any donated monies spent for such benevolence under our direction. We can also provide cases and unmet needs assessments for any organization wishing to disburse their monies themselves.
Help Us Help Others!
Like other non-profit charitable organizations, we rely on the charity of others to assist us in our endeavors to help the needy and distressed in our area. Your donation will help provide the resources needed to continue with our mission. If you would rather use some other means of donating feel free to use the contact information below to speak with us directly. Thank you.
